Florida Atlantic University does not publish an automatic merit grid

Boca Raton, Florida

No published automatic grid — how merit works here

Most colleges in our calculator publish a grid that ties exact dollar amounts to GPA and test-score thresholds. Florida Atlantic University does not publish an automatic merit grid — so it is not in the calculator, and this page shows no exact award amounts for it. Below is how its merit actually works, taken from the college's own official text.

How merit works at Florida Atlantic University

FAU publishes a table of listed criteria and listed amounts for its freshman merit awards, but FAU itself states — repeatedly on the same official page — that these awards are competitive and not guaranteed, that meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee a scholarship, and that many awards are ultimately determined by the competitiveness of the entering freshman class. That is why FAU is not in the MeritChart calculator as an automatic grid: the listed numbers are not a promise for meeting the listed criteria. Eligibility is determined at the time of admission with no supplemental scholarship application; students must be admitted and must have a complete admissions application (application, fee or waiver, STARS/SSAR and test scores) by January 15 to be considered. Awards are limited in number, awarded on a rolling basis early in the cycle, generally not stackable, and renewal requires a 3.0 FAU GPA, full-time enrollment and 30 credits per academic year. Other FAU scholarships are applied for through Scholarship Universe. Florida students may separately qualify for the state Bright Futures program, which FAU describes as a state-funded scholarship — it is not FAU institutional merit.
