University of South Florida does not publish an automatic merit grid

No published automatic grid — how merit works here

Most colleges in our calculator publish a grid that ties exact dollar amounts to GPA and test-score thresholds. University of South Florida does not publish an automatic merit grid — so it is not in the calculator, and this page shows no exact award amounts for it. Below is how its merit actually works, taken from the college's own official text.

How merit works at University of South Florida

USF does not publish an automatic merit grid. It automatically considers admitted first-time-in-college students for competitive merit-based scholarships when they submit and complete the freshman application by January 15, using the same academic records used for admission plus residency status; no additional application is required. USF's own FAQ states that scholarships are awarded on a funds-available basis and that receiving a scholarship is not guaranteed, and its catalog language describes admissions merit scholarships as highly competitive. USF says the Office of Admissions gives over 10,000 merit-based awards annually. Florida-resident award names (USF Presidential Award, USF Directors Award, USF Scholars Gold Award) appear in USF's official terms and conditions, but USF does not publish GPA/test thresholds for them on the official pages verified here; the dollar figures USF does publish are the Green & Gold out-of-state waiver amounts for non-Florida residents. Additional departmental/Foundation scholarships use the separate USF scholarship search / AwardSpring route after admission. Florida residents may separately qualify for the state Bright Futures program, which is a state program, not USF institutional merit.

Deadlines

What the college's official page says

USF will automatically consider individuals for competitive merit-based scholarships when they submit and complete the freshman application for Summer or Fall 2026 by January 15, 2026.
Merit-based awards are limited; therefore, we encourage students to complete their application by the January 15 deadline.
However, all scholarships are awarded on a funds available basis each term, so receiving a scholarship is not guaranteed.
